BSI Training

How BSI Training works and why it’s such a great idea

The Laser Shooting Trainer is a patented device that is attached to the front of the forearm of a basketball player. The device projects 2 laser light beams that are perpendicular to each other (they form a cross – a horizontal line and a vertical line).

The Laser Shooting Trainer is a patented device that is attached to the front of the forearm of a basketball player. The device projects 2 laser light beams that are perpendicular to each other (they form a cross – a horizontal line and a vertical line).

The perpendicular laser lines form a “sight” which is projected towards the basketball hoop when the basketball player is in shooting motion. The vertical line adjusted to line up with the player’s forearm (from elbow to wrist). The horizontal line should be kept parallel to the ground, as well as to the bottom of the backboard and the rim. The goal is to place the shooter’s forearm, as well as the vertical beam, in the 90 degree position.

How to use it

1 The Laser Shooting Trainer is attached to the front of the forearm of a basketball player. It projects 2 laser light beams that are perpendicular to each other (they form a cross – a horizontal line and a vertical line).

3 The perpendicular laser lines form a “sight” which is projected towards the basketball hoop when the basketball player is in a shooting motion.

2 The laser module is adjusted so that the vertical beam lines up exactly with the shooter’s forearm.

4 The goal is to place the shooter’s forearm, as well as the vertical beam, in the 90-degree position – elbow in, not out.

How it Works

How it works

In correct shooting form, the player’s shooting arm (forearm) should be perpendicular to the ground (90 degrees). The shooter’s forearm will be lined up with the vertical laser line to ensure this. Once the correct shooting position is “locked in”, there’s lots of repetition (with and without a ball) in the proper shooting motion – full arm extension, follow through, etc.

The purpose of this device is to teach/train the basketball shooter in the proper “square-up” form (elbow in”); develop consistency in maintaining correct arm/body alignment; put the shooter’s arm in proper shooting position; develop correct and consistent follow-through (by “touching” the laser line).

It also improves muscle memory through visualization, keeps the shooter mentally “locked in” and focused on correct form and target, and provides visual diagnostic feedback if shooter’s form is incorrect.

LST is Better

Why the LST is better than straps and arm braces

You may have seen other shooting aids on the market, such as straps and braces, that place the shooter’s arm in

the proper pre-launch position. My belief is that the LST is far superior to these, and training with the LST will result in greater shooting accuracy improvement.

Why? Because the LST combines both physical/mechanical training with visual, ball “flight path” focus. Multiple senses are working at the same time to lock the shooter in to consistent, correct shooting form that will result in a higher percentage of made shots.
